The Heli Team: Aerial Survey and Mapping

Aerial survey is a method of collecting geomatics or other imagery by using a variety of aerial methods. In the pursuit of geospatial data acquisition, airborne platforms deliver an advantage over terrestrial or ground-based surveying and mapping methods because they provide a more expansive viewpoint. Helicopters are preferred over their fixed-wing counterparts in the conduction of airborne surveys because they offer more diversity in the types of locations they can fly into.

Typical types of data collected are aerial photography, LiDAR, remote sensing (using various visible and invisible bands of the electromagnetic spectrum, such as infrared, gamma, or ultraviolet) and also geophysical data (such as aeromagnetic surveys and gravity. It can also refer to the chart or map made by analyzing a region from the air. Aerial survey should be distinguished from satellite imagery technologies because of its better resolution, quality and atmospheric conditions.

Today, aerial survey is sometimes recognized as a synonym for aero photogrammetry, part of photogrammetry where the camera is placed in the air. Measurements on aerial images are provided by photogrammetric technologies and methods. Aerial surveys can provide information on many things not visible from the ground.

We work with surveying and mapping firms, LiDar, and FLIR imaging companies to fly their data gathering systems to make it more efficient and easier to solve their complex engineering challenges. All installation work is FAA Approved. All of our aircraft are equipped with automated GPS tracking systems.

Aerial surveys are key for landowners following hurricane devastation. In hurricane-prone regions like the state of Florida and coastal cities of southeastern US, helicopter access makes rescues, supply delivery, damage assessment, surveys, and rehabilitation efforts more expedient because debris on roads and flooding that typically blocks access for terrestrial vehicles can be easily avoided.

No project is too small, no job too complex, we are prepared to manage your endeavors from start to completion, all it takes is a single phone call or button click to start.
